Other things

I boulder several times a week. I also like to go hiking or go on a road trip.

I like to carve. Chess pieces mostly. It's slow and satisfying, and I am not especially good at it yet.

A roughed-out wooden knight, still showing pencil guidelines and tool facets, standing beside a finished pawn on a slate garden table in the sun. A leather tool roll and offcuts sit behind them.
A knight and a pawn partway there.

I like building things generally. I made a split ergonomic keyboard with a wooden case I cut myself. I self-host a fair amount: mail, passwords, monitoring, music streaming. And there is always some part of my Linux setup that I am in the middle of breaking.

The two halves of a split ergonomic keyboard with purple keycaps, each mounted on a hand-cut wooden base, laid out on a workbench next to a folding ruler.
The keyboard, wooden case freshly finished.

Some app development on the side, including GeoQuiz, a geography quiz. I have been playing guitar and piano for over ten years. Chess and board games, as you may have gathered.

I love learning languages. In high school I took six years each of Latin, German and French, and three of Ancient Greek, and I have been collecting bits of other languages ever since without too much discipline about it. Right now I am learning Romanian.

Vegetarian, mostly vegan.
